Was it last week ay sed ay wud luk 4 its source, wer da Lady sed Zamboanga  General  Alvarez raised the banner of the Jolo sultan at Fort Pillar?

During a conferens  on’ Muslim Autonomy,’ Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City ,March 11-13,1988, in her historical & constitusional mandayt  speech,  LTP Chairman Elnorita Tugung sed:

‘ … on May 18, 1899, Christian revolutionaries in Zamboanga City led by General Vicente Alvarez after a two-day siege overran the Spanish Garrison in Fort Pilar and captured the last Governor-Generalof the Philippines, Diego delos Rios. After hauling down the Spanish flag, the revolutionaries reportedly raised the banner of the Sultan of Sulu (italics mine) ¾not of General Aguinaldo, of Kawit, Cavite.’

Nursing  doubts of its verasiti, and  wyle interviewing the late Zamboanga  City Tourism Commissioner, Adolfo  (‘Cabonegro’) Navarro in Zamboanga, I askt him to shed lyte on da mater, ‘No way was it for da sultan.’  And in Chabacano, ‘Para con quien ba si General Alvarez  ta pella! (For whom was General  alvarez fyting for!)  He was fyting for his felow-Zamboanguenyos, 2 free dem from senturees of Spanish bondage.’

Da folt daz nat ly wid former LTP chairman Emorita Tugung, ay am shur, but wid da kerles  recorder who 1st wrot down da brazen lie.
